Riverview Gardens Board President Selected for Leadership St. Louis Program.

The Rev. Tommie Pierson, president of the Riverview Gardens School Board, is one of 66 existing and emerging leaders in the region to participate in the FOCUS Leadership St. Louis Program.

As part of the program over the next nine months, Pierson will help identify critical issues affecting the region, develop leadership and stewardship capabilities to resolve those issues, create a strong communications network and inspire others to create positive changes.
Pierson, who has served on the Riverview Gardens School Board since 2003, was selected by a FOCUS St. Louis advisory committee to participate in the leadership program because he demonstrates an understanding and commitment to solving the region’s challenges.
Pierson says he feels honored to work with others who are involved in this prestigious leadership program.

“I look forward to honing my leadership skills in new ways to bring about positive changes in our community,” says Pierson.

Pierson is the pastor of Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine Neighbors. As a civic leader, he is chairman of both the Human Relations Committee for the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors and of MoDOT’s Advisory Committee for the I-64 reconstruction project. What are Rev. Pierson's priorities for Riverview Gardens School District?

My three top priorities to move Riverview School District forward are to adopt policies which are conducive to student learning to regain accreditation, work with the administration and other board members to stabilize the finances of the district which will allow the district to no longer be financially stressed, while working with teachers, parents, and the community to retain qualified teachers, support staff and leadership personnel.
